How to Use This Site
The OMDC DanceXchange is a resource for Omaha-area dance people to exchange information about what you need and what you can offer to help create works and build the dance community.
Here’s a quick question-and-answer guide to how to get the most from the site:
How do I find out what’s going on in the dance scene?
Just visit the OMDC DanceXchange page. Bookmark it in your browser and check it regularly. And pass the word to all your dance friends!
What kinds of information will you carry?
We’re working to partner with all the area’s major dance organizations to help them post information on the exchange about their activities, resources and needs. We hope to make this your “one-stop shopping” destination for information about auditions, master classes, performances, events, and happenings in the dance community.
How do I zero in on one kind of information?
Posts on the DanceXchange are categorized. Note the Categories heading in the right-hand column of the page. You can click the category you want, and you’ll be shown only posts in that category. For example, if you’re looking for audition notices, click the Dancers Wanted link.
You also can search for specific words or terms by typing them in the Search box at the top of the right-hand column.
Help! I can’t get back to the home page (the one with all the listings.)
Click DanceXchange home in INFO section of the right column. Or, click the the big picture banner at the top of every page and you’ll be taken back to the home page.
Can I get a quick summary or alert when new items are posted?
Yes! Use the RSS link, under the ACTIONS heading toward the bottom of the right-hand column.
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a web standard for summarizing and updating information. Click the RSS link, and you’ll see a feed — a list of brief summaries of current items. Most modern web browsers let you bookmark your RSS feeds and will show you an alert whenever a feed has been updated. Check your browser’s Help documentation for information on how to do this.
How can my organization post things on the DanceXchange?
Contact our site administrator at exchange@omdcdance.org and we’ll set up a contributor account for you.
I’m an individual dancer/musician/costume designer/etc. How can I get occasional things posted on the DanceXchange?
Email your information to exchange@omdcdance.org. We’ll be happy to post it for you as long as it meets our Terms of Service (see below.) If you find you have information to post regularly, contact us about setting up a contributor account for you.
What if I have problems or questions?
Email exchange@omdcdance.org and we’ll try to help!
Terms of Service
The DanceXchange is a service of OMDC, the Omaha Modern Dance Collective — a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization for developing and promoting Omaha’s modern dance community.
Our goal for this service is to share information on:
- Upcoming auditions and performance opportunities
- Workshops, master classes, and dance-oriented community events
- Requests for resources that people need for dance-related projects (such as props, costumes, rehearsal space, etc.)
- Announcements of resources that people are making available for dance-related projects
Because we’re a nonprofit organization, we generally will not be able to post:
- Schedules or listings of commercial studios’ regularly-scheduled classes (although we definitely do want to post your master classes, short-form workshops, and other special events!)
- Activities and events that are not open to the community
- Information that is not primarily dance-related
OMDC’s site administrators will be the arbiters of what is or isn’t acceptable for posting. If you’ve submitted a “problem” post, we’ll try to work with you, but our decisions are final. Thanks for your cooperation.
This site is administered by volunteers. Every effort will be made to approved postings within 24 hours of submission.
