The Omaha Modern Dance Collective is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of modern dance in Omaha.
- OMDC provides opportunities for local modern dancers to perform in a concert setting; provides avenues for independent choreographers to have their work produced. These can be formal theatrical concerts, or performances in nontraditional spaces — anything from rooftops to art galleries.
- OMDC accepts commissions from civic and cultural organizations which want to bring modern dance to their audiences. Past commissioning partners have included Lauritzen Gardens, the Louisville Art Gallery, the Women’s Art Caucus, and Joslyn Art Museum.
- OMDC works to provide continuous development of dancers’ technical skills by offering weekly technique classes and periodic master classes offering fresh perspectives from visiting teachers.
OMDC has received numerous grants from the Nebraska Arts Council, and was the 2007 winner of an Omaha Entertainment Award in the category of Best Dance Production for its b/mod4 concert.
Part of OMDC’s mission is to develop audiences for modern dance. As part of this commitment, you’re invited to subscribe to our email list of upcoming modern dance events. If you’d like to receive these notifications, please contact us.
OMDC is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that is supported in part by contributions from individual supporters. If you’d like to support OMDC with a donation, please contact us and we’ll be happy to send you contributor information. No comments
